January 12, 2010 This morning, as I was listening to Positive 89.3, while driving all over Timbuktu to get my kids to school (don’t even get me started on how long that takes).. I realized my son was being uncharacteristically quiet. Usually he waxes eloquent on anything from the scientific reaction taking place inside the solid rocket boosters of the space shuttle, to a new chapter he’s working on for his latest book – but this morning, silence. I didn’t think anything of it, until my mental image of someone wearing only a hospital gown, driving an electric cart all over the store being chased by police (ala knuckleheads in the news) was interrupted with a voice from the backseat… “got a couple DENTS in my fender…….RIPS in my jeans”. I turned the radio down, (sorry Kenny)…to hear, ”puuurFECtion is my eneMEEEEEEEE”. I realized then that my son was singing along to his Ipod, totally unaware that he was singing outloud and that I could hear him. He was getting louder. “I’m Free to be MEEEEEEEE”. He hit the high note…dogs everywhere echoed their approval. As I listened to his adorable acapella accompaniment of Francesca Battestelli, I smiled, wishing I could capture the moment forever. It’s hard not to be happy when your children are signing at the top of their lungs, and the song glorifies God. At that age the song lyrics I was belting were anything but glorifying to God. What a blessing to know that Kyle first heard that song on Positive 89.3. What a blessing to know that he chooses the songs he hears on Positive 89.3 to fill his Ipod. What a blessing to know God fills his heart with love through those very songs. |
